Wat Phnom

Description

Wat Phnom is a Buddhist temple located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was built in 1372, and stands 27 metres above the ground. It is the tallest religious structure in the city. The pagoda was given the name of Wat Preah Chedey Borapaut.Wat Phnom is the central point of Phnom Penh.According to legend, the first pagoda on this site was erected in 1372 to house four statues of Buddha deposited here by the waters of the Mekong River and discovered by Lady Penh,Moreover Wat Phnom is the one place of believe by Cambodian are going to praying to have a luck in life. The architecture of Wat Phnom was rebuilt several times in the 19th century and again in 1926. The interior has a central altar complex with a large bronze seated Buddha surrounded by other statues, flowers, candles and items of devotion and worship.However Wat Phnom is the one of center of celebration during Khmer New Year Day and Pchum Ben Days.

How to Visiting Wat Phnom Of Cambodia?

Wat Phnom is located north of Road 102, Norodom Boulevard, in the center Phnom Penh of Cambodia. Opening Hours : from 7:00 to 6:30PM. Entrance fee : is about $1, and $2 for the on-site museum. Please notice that before all traveler getting there repare yourself for a somewhat chaotic scene when you arrive and begin the walk to the top of the hill. Pushy vendors and beggars vie for your attention, but it's easy enough to navigate; just hold on to your wallet.
