Kbal Spean
Description
Kbal Spean
has stone carvings in the river and around the head of the bridge, most of it was built during 11th century AD. The head of the bridge was built by King Suryavarman I and completed by King Udayadityavarman II. The people believed that the water flowing through here was a source of prosperity and coolness, and also used in agriculture. They carved hundreds of penises in the bottom of the lake from the north of the upper part of the natural stone bridge down to the waterfall about 150 meters long. That's why they call this place as 1000 penises (សហស្រលិង្គ). Some places also have vaginal carvings attached to the penises in the bottom of the river about 200 meters long, some of them are along the side of the lake and some on the walls.
